Do you know what a command block is? If so, do you know how to use one? If you don’t, this post is just for you. Here you will learn the basics of command blocks as well as some simple commands.
If you didn’t already know, commands can be used to help you in the game. If you want to use commands, you might want to play in creative mode with cheats enabled. If you don’t have cheats enabled, you won’t be able to do any commands. There are 2 ways to type commands. The 1st way is to go into your chat bar to type your commands. The 2nd is to obtain a command block. Command blocks are rare blocks that cannot be found in your inventory. To obtain a command block, you have to type in your chat bar:/give @s command_block. Once you have written the command, press the / key on your computer, or the X button on your controller to execute the command. If you did it correctly, you should now have 1 command block. Once you place it, you must interact with it to see its menu. Once you’re in the menu, you will see a box with the words command input. Here is where you write your commands. Some easy commands are:
-/time set day (changes night to day)
-/time set night (changes day to night)
-/weather clear (makes it stop raining or snowing)
-/weather rain (makes it rain)
-/summon mob (spawns a specific mob. Replace mob with the mob you want to summon)
every command must start with a / or it wont’t work. Some harder commands are:
-/fill X Y Z block (fills an area with a specific block. replace X Y Z with cordinates from 2 diagonal corners of a square or rectangle. Replace block with the block you want to fill the area with. If the block is more than 1 word long then put an _ in between the 2 words.)
-/tp @s X Y Z (teleports the player to a specific block. Replace X Y Z with coordinates of the block you want to teleport to.
-/effect @s effect (gives the player a certain potion effect for a certain amount of time. Default time is 30 secs. Replace effect with the name of the potion effect you want.)
You can also use the /give command to give you other items, too. Just replace command_block with the name of any other item in the game. Also, to use a command block you must sneak and place a button or lever to press or flick when you want to execute the command.
