Where to find:
Axolotls can only be found in water pools in caves underground. The water must be below Y=63, and must have a solid block above it in order for axolotls to spawn.
How to tame and breed:
Axolotls can’t exactly be tamed, but you can carry them around with a water bucket. To breed axolotls, feed them buckets of tropical fish.
Additional facts:
-When hit, axolotls will play dead by flopping on their sides and getting the regeneration effect.
-Axolotls kill all ocean mobs they can find, including squid, glow squid, cod, salmon, tropical fish, drowned, dolphins, turtles. and the guardian and elder guardian bosses.
-If you help kill a mob that the axolotl is trying to kill, you will get the regeneration effect, as well as removing any mining fatiuge you may have.
-There are 5 colors of axolotl: blue, gold, cyan, brown and leucistic (pink). Blue axolotls are one of the rarest mobs in the game. They have a 1 in 1,200 chance of spawning. Not to be confused with the cyan axolotl, the blue axolotl is a dark blue with orange gills. (Gills are the things that stick out of the axolotl’s head). The cyan axolotl, however, is light blue with pink gills.
